Hello i have recently started using onenote to take notes for my classes, however i enjoy using handwriting with my apple pencil and having it converted into text like i have with other apps. There is no “ink to text”, only a “ink to shape”

We’ve got an update from our Internal Support team and we’ve verified that the Ink to Text option is only available on OneNote for Windows 10.

In line with this, we would like to have our engineers be aware of the conern. I would recommend posting your concern on our OneNote UserVoice ****as Microsoft continuously strives to improve its products and to provide a better experience to its consumers.

Your entry in the UserVoice will help our support engineers to gather data on how they can improve Outlook and its features and this will also represent other community members who also wanted the same feature suggestion. Our engineers responses may also depend on the upvotes on the current entry.

Should you need further assistance, feel free to post back to Microsoft Community.

With all due respect, this redirection statement about voicing the handwriting-to-text feature suggestion over in the OneNote uservoice forum is tired and old.

For years now, it's been the blanket statement MS appears to put out every time this question gets asked. It's also been the number one request in that OneNote forum (by a long shot) for YEARS as well. Yet, the feature has never been added nor has any update on the status of adding the feature ever been provided by MS - only that that the idea will be passed on to the Engineers. They are undoubtedly aware of the request by now. And with the 2020 added iOS feature of Scribble, it seems like it should be easy-peasy. But still nothing.

Why is MS avoiding any kind of meaningful answer on this ask?

If it is far and above the number one request, why has it yet to be added to OneNote?

This feels more like it has to do with Surface vs. iPad/MS vs. Apple than anything else. That is the only logical explanation - and a super petty one at that. It would essentially be cutting off one's nose to spite one's face.

OneNote has the potential to be something great but without the handwriting-to-text feature, it's still just a place to paste stuff and type notes if you are sitting at a computer.

PLEASE - give us a real answer on this!

    Thank you

So what is happening on this?

Is MS getting off their x@#$ and getting this working?

I’m looking for an answer to this too. This feature is critical to Business iPad users.
