SharePoint upload fails 'error in the application'

Am attempting to upload files to SharePoint of several clients.

Upload begins normally. After 2 - 4 mb of data transferred upload resets to 0 and begins again.

Upload continues normally until half of file is uploaded (eg 21.2mb of 42.4mb file)

Upload stops.

Approx. 5 minutes later error message "error in the application" appears.

Upload stopped.

File is displayed in SharePoint folder, but contains no data.

    Dear Eric and Dawn,

Thanks for your updates and the detailed screenshots here.

Sorry for the inconvenience the issue caused.

As I can't reproduce such an issue in our environments currently and the Upload feature should work for the file types you mentioned with the maximum size 250 GB, I'm afraid that it may be an issue when you use the Upload feature in your environments which may need to be involved with some logs from your side with our related team. I kindly suggest you contact the administrator in your company and open a support ticket to our related team as soon as possible so that they can help you further.

Meanwhile, I suggest you try uploading files with the OneDrive sync client to see if you can upload such files in your environments.

Sorry for that our category may have limited resources to contact our related team directly.

Thanks for your understanding and hope that the issue can be fixed soon in your environments.

    Cliff

    Dears,

I am just facing the same issue.

I am the owner (!) of the site and the first one who has ever entered data into it.

For me the upload limit seems to be 144 MB (below 145 MB).

Strangely is that it seems that it is ONLY for me because a Colleague was able to upload 195 MB (who is not an owner).

I gave myself (beside the owner group) Full control to every aspect, side, folder of the site but it is still not working

Have already opened a service request within the company but I have the feeling that it is something related to Home office and provider (I have a different one vs. my Colleague).

    Hi,

I am experiencing the same issue and nothing in this whole thread has worked for me. Are there any updates on this issue?

    Thanks

    Dear Franlead,

Thanks for reporting the issue here.

I first suggest you try uploading files with the OneDrive sync client to see if you can upload such files in your environments. If it works in your environment, I suggest you currently use it as a workaround.

As the issue may be an issue when you use the Upload feature in your environments which may need to be involved with some logs from your side with our related team. I kindly suggest you contact the administrator in your company and open a support ticket to our related team as soon as possible so that they can help you further.

Sorry for that our category may have limited resources to contact our related team directly.

@HS, as you have opened a support ticket in your environment, I recommend you follow up on the issue with the support ticket engineers for further troubleshooting.

Thanks for your understanding and have a nice day!

    Cliff

I am bemused by the support being provided in this thread. This error message appears to be happening to lots of us, in multiple browsers (including up-to-date Edge) and the error message is not particularly enlightening. Perhaps, rather than firefighting the response, something could be done about it by Microsoft because, as you say, the file limit has not been reached.

BTW for me, in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, the file upload pauses at 125Mb and is a large CSV file.
