This has not been working: Receive error image attached : stating you have entered an invalid wildcard sequence. Tried all the other areas. I too am using a personal laptop for work and am losing tiime . It is unreasonably hard to allow macro. Please provide solution

Add this website to the zone text area, type file:// then one of 2 options:

    1. Manually Type in the file path for the excel file you are using (example: file://C:\users\name\Documents\ExcelfilewithMacros.xlsm)
    2. Once you type in "file://" it will bring up a list of literally all the files on your machine, if its easier you ca simply scroll through this to find your file, click it, and it will autofill the box.

Check to see if the files are saved in a zipped folder. If they are, right click on the zipped folder, extract to a new location. Then try some of the methods above. I had tried all the options and none worked until the files were unzipped.

I swear I've tried every. single. suggestion. Nothing works. I've tried about 7 different methods yet I still can't enable macros. I'll potentially fail my test now.

Yeah, it's brutal that this one is so elusive. The only other suggestions I have are:

    • Check if macros can run on files that you have created from scratch; if so try copy>paste values and/or copying the tabs from the file that doesn't work to a clean open worksheet

-Try on another computer, if available, including a library machine

    ********I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!********

    At least for me**.**

I was having this issue on my work computer. I had tried all of the suggestions from this forum, and none had worked, including the suggestions from William Bailey 1794. The file I was trying to use was in a ZIP folder, which ended up being the issue. As soon as I saved just the excel file (not the whole ZIP) to somewhere else, in our case the work server, the macros worked!

I think that the previous suggestions were what enabled this to work after doing what I mentioned previously. So, if taking it out of a ZIP or just saving it to a different location does not work, try the other suggestions after you have made the move.
