Generating Audit Log Reports in SharePoint Site

Hi everyone,

I'm encountering an issue with generating audit log reports for my SharePoint Online site. I need to track user activities such as views, edits, and deletions of documents and items within the site.

I've tried enabling audit log reporting but am unsure of the correct steps to configure it properly. Specifically, I'm looking for guidance on:

  1. Enabling and Configuring Audit Log Reports: What are the exact steps to enable and configure audit logging in SharePoint Online?
  2. Access and Permissions: Are there any specific permissions required to access and generate these reports?
  3. Scheduling Reports: Is it possible to schedule these reports to be generated and sent automatically?
  4. Customizing Audit Events: How can I customize the types of events that are included in the audit log?

Any detailed steps or references to relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Thank you for your update.

We have already deleted and edited files in the library, and i have already use edge browser, so there should be corresponding data available for the Audit Log report. Since the report is not being generated, I believe this issue needs further investigation.

Please escalate this matter to the backend support team for a thorough investigation, including remote assistance and background log collection. Their advanced tools and permissions should help resolve the issue effectively.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Dear Bharti Rajput,

Thank you for your patient update.

Since this forum Community has limited resource and permission, we can't help you escalate this issue. You need to contact your administrator in your tenant and let him open the support ticket to the backend support team. Please refer this article: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn
