It seems that the add-in "Acrobatexceladdin" is the problem (for me).
No more error for me after i disabled that under Tools -> Excel Add-ins...

I updated Excel for Mac (365) yesterday. I now get a pop up that says:
Visual Basic for Applications
Run-time error '1004':
Method 'Name" of object 'Addin' failed.
Help End
When I click End, Excel seems to work ok, but I'm not sure whether this VB error will cause problems with my complex spreadsheets.
It seems the update either (a) has a bug, or (b) didn't load correctly (although it verified itself before opening after the update).
How can I delete Excel and re-download it?
Thanks

Thank you. It also fixed the problem for me.
Fixed it for me too. Thank you very much!!!!
@admincarsten is correct this is NOT because Excel is encountering an addin (regardless of the error message). It only started when your ADHD infected GenZ programmers jammed the latest version of Excel, 16.89 (24090815) down my throat. THIS ONLY HAPPENS with this latest version of Excel. Whenever you start the program, or for that matter, just close and open a blank worksheet, the infernal message pops up and won't go away until you hit END. It's annoying as H*ll.
I HAVE NO ADDINS INSTALLED IN EXCEL!!!!! Clicking on "Insert Addins / My Addins" returns a completely blank list of "Office Add-ins." YES I have the POS that is Acrobat Pro "Continuous Release" Version 2024.003.20121 installed, but neither that version, nor any other version, of Acrobat (pro or otherwise) has EVER been removed (or attempted to be removed) from this computer since it was brand new. So, if Acrobat Pro gratuitously installed any Addins in Excel, it did it long ago.
So, stop blaming the issue on others and fix the d**mn problem.
Have a user running into the same error message/issue after updating excel to 16.89 (MacOS 14.6.1)
They do not have any add-ins installed, and deleting/reverting to excel 16.80 results in the same error message (simply by opening a new workbook).
