Error 0x0000011b - No Workgroup Printer access - it worked yesterday!

My PC is connected via a Workgroup to my wife's PC - her PC is wired to our printer.

When I send a document for printing - it appears on the printer queue on my PC but the Status is blank - then after about a minute it disappears from my printer queue - but nothing prints.

Looking at our Network, I can see the printer but cannot Connect to Printer - Operation failed with error 0x0000011b

In the mean time, on my PC, I have deleted the link to our printer and now cannot re-install, as the wizard cannot locate the printer via the network.

Recent Windows Updates Installed

Any simple work around or an update from Microsoft - would us minions receive an indication of a Microsoft correction or would we learn by osmosis?

Similar issue in domain environment, Print server MS Windows 2016 Core, clients Windows 10.
Printers can't be connected, set as default or installed on client machine/
Removing KB5005573 from printserver solved our problem.

Isso resolveu o problema que tive em um cliente. Servidor de impressão está em um Windows Server 2016. Ontem de manhã a atualização foi instalada. Desinstalei, reiniciei o servidor e a atualização já estava sendo baixada novamente. Deixei o serviço do Windows Update desativado, pelo menos até ter certeza que uma atualização nova seja capaz de resolver esses problemas.

Uninstalling KB5005573 on all the computers has resolved the problem.
All computers are now printing on my Wife's Network Computer
But what will happen on the next update. And would like to see an official repair from windows

SUCCESS without removing the server update...

Check workstations and make sure they are FULLY up-to-date to Windows10 21H1 feature update. After reboot of station, printing returns to normal without removing the major security update from the server.

Try to look for the following recent Windows update versions that your PC might have just updated to and remove them following the below steps one by one and see if the error goes.

removing all those updates? VERY bad call unless you like viruses and ransomware. Removing these will open a number of holes and make your systems vulnerable to attack.
look for options that don't roll back to the past. Updates are used to move forward and improve the devices. I will get off my soapbox now. LOL

Yes, you are right, removing any fthe update is not a good idea unless you don't have any other options. However, if people can wait for an official fix for this then I would really recommend that instead of messing more with their Windows files.

We had a similar problem in the domain environment, MS Windows 2012 R2 print server, after the KB5005613 package one of the stations with windows 7.0 simply not, it was no longer possible to print to the shared printer on that server. Removed the package, fixed the problem, thanks for the tip, regards!

I recently started getting this error on both of my Windows 11 Pro machines while trying to connect to a shared printers on the machines. Both machines have all updates installed. I am able to connect to files but not the printers. None of the solutions posted have worked included the registry changes. The only updates I can uninstall are show in the attached file. None of them are the ones suggested to uninstall. Both printers are HP. One is a Lasrjet and one is a Photosmart. Both are attached to USB ports on their respective machines. When I click on them from the desktop network I can I can see the printer but cannot connect to it without getting the 11b error. I can install each of them on the other machine locally so the print drivers appear to be correct. File sharing works but not printer sharing. Suggests please as i have run out of options

Best Solution
on computer which printer has installed and want to share it,
1- open registry editor
2-go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print
3- if you have RpcAuthnLevelprivacyEnabled then set to 0 and restart computer and enjoy the sharing printer.
4-if you don't have RpcAuthnLevelprivacyEnabled, you must make a new key for it as follow:
-right click and make a new DWORD(32 bit)
-make name RpcAuthnLevelprivacyEnabled , -then restart your computer and everything will work.

Those updates do not appear either on Win 10 host or Win 11 pro client computer. I have tried all the group edit and registry hacks on the internet to no avail. Cannot install a printer wired to a host computer to a Win 11 client computer😔

Same issue here, print server running 2012R2. Uninstalled KB5005613 and the remote machines were able to connect and print to the shared printer again.

If running Workstations on Windows 10 then the BEST answer is to make sure you are up to at lest Version 20H2 or higher.
If workstations are win7 then the Regedit solution found here is the best solution.
Uninstalling patch is absolutely the worse idea and last choice of action you should choose.

I have same trouble,

All computer Windows 7 same error same time: cannot connect to printer and cannot add new printer on LAN with error "Windows cannot connect to the printer" "Operation failed with error 0x0000011b"

And i see that Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool v5.93 (KB890830) is reason, but it a tool scan and delete some system file maybe

So, solution is System restore: Restart -> Press (F8) -> Choose Repair Your Computer -> System Restore -> Choose the point before update KB890830

Hopefully since you are running Windows 7 you have better luck with system restore 9 out 10 fail on Windows 10 PC's.

I had the same problem. When uninstalling update KB5005565 the problem is solved, but when restarting the computer and updating the system the problem happens again.

After a few searches, I managed to hide the update through the Microsoft tool.

Uninstall update KB5005565

Restart the computer

Run the Microsoft Download Center tool: http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab

Select the KBKB5005565 update
