Unable to Renew Microsoft 365 Developer Program Subscription After Deletion

Hello,

I am attempting to rejoin the Microsoft 365 Developer Program after my E5 subscription was deleted due to inactivity on March 18, 2025. I followed the documented process by deleting my account and waiting 62 days before signing up again. However, after re-enrollment, my dashboard still does not issue a new subscription and remains stuck without renewal.

I understand that subscriptions are automatically renewed every 90 days with active usage, and that deleted subscriptions cannot be manually reactivated. However, since I have already waited the required period and re-enrolled, I would like clarification on:

  1. Why my account remains in this state without a new subscription.
  2. Whether additional steps are required to trigger a new E5 sandbox.
  3. If my account can be reset or reviewed to allow reactivation.

Could you please investigate my case and advise on how I can regain access to a Microsoft 365 Developer subscription for ongoing development and testing?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Jason

    Hi Jason Pearson

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum and posting your question regarding the renewal process for Microsoft 365 E5 developer subscriptions.

Based on how the Microsoft 365 Developer Program is designed, Developer Program subscriptions (including E5 sandboxes) are provisioned and renewed automatically by the system. Once a developer subscription is deleted due to inactivity, it cannot be manually reactivated by moderators.

After rejoining the Developer Program, if a new sandbox is not automatically issued, this typically indicates that the account is not currently eligible for a new subscription based on the program’s internal eligibility and usage assessment. Waiting the documented period and re‑enrolling does not guarantee that a new E5 sandbox will be immediately or automatically provisioned.

You can monitor your Microsoft 365 Developer Program dashboard and ensure your account continues to meet the program participation and usage criteria.

If you believe this is an issue with the Developer Program service itself, the next step is to contact Microsoft Developer Support through the following link: Services Hub. Please note that this portal (Services Hub) is a paid ticket and access is subject to certain conditions, which you can review here: Services Hub sign in FAQs | Microsoft Learn.

I hope this clarifies your concerns. Please let me know how you get on, as your feedback is valuable to the community.

It seems that you are experiencing issues with rejoining the Microsoft 365 Developer Program after your subscription was deleted. Here are some points to consider based on the information available:

    1. Account Status: After deleting your account, you need to wait for more than 60 days before signing up again. Since you mentioned that you waited 62 days, you should be eligible to re-enroll. However, if your account remains without a new subscription, it could be due to a processing delay or a system issue.
    2. Triggering a New E5 Sandbox: Typically, a new E5 subscription should be issued automatically upon successful re-enrollment. If this is not happening, it may require additional steps or verification from Microsoft. Ensure that you are following the correct re-enrollment process as outlined in the documentation.
    3. Account Review: Unfortunately, I cannot directly investigate your case or reset your account. However, if you continue to face issues, it is advisable to contact Microsoft support for a detailed review of your account status and assistance in reactivating your subscription.

For ongoing development and testing, reaching out to Microsoft support would be the best course of action to resolve your situation.
