Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

To help narrow down the issue:

    1. Where exactly are you seeing this old account (Windows sign-in, Microsoft Store, Office, or Settings)?
    2. Is it listed under Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts or Other users?

If it appears under Email & accounts, try this:

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts > Select the old account > Click Remove.

    If it’s under Other users:

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Select the account > Click Remove > Delete account and data.

If Windows does not allow you to remove it, please let me know.

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

To remove an old Microsoft account that you can no longer access, you generally need to go through the account recovery process. However, if the email address associated with that account no longer exists, you may face difficulties. Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Account Recovery: Attempt to recover the account by using the Microsoft account recovery page. You may need to provide information about the account to verify your identity.
    2. Contact Support: If recovery is not possible, consider contacting Microsoft Support for assistance. They may be able to help you resolve the issue or provide guidance on how to proceed.
    3. New Account: If you have already set up a new account and it's being blocked by the old account, ensure that you are using a different email address for the new account. Microsoft does not allow merging accounts or reusing email addresses that are linked to existing accounts.

Unfortunately, if the account is permanently inaccessible and you cannot recover it, you may not be able to remove it directly. Microsoft accounts are designed to maintain security and prevent unauthorized access, which complicates the removal of accounts that cannot be verified.
