    Welcome 박시영

Thank you for posting your question to the Q&A forum.

From what you shared, I understand you're facing a c2r64.dll error whenever you open any Office file (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

The EXCEL.EXE – Bad Image (0xc000007b) error might indicate that Microsoft Office cannot load a required system file (c2r64.dll). In addition to the steps suggested by Q&A Assist, you can also try the following:

    1. Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributables

Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps

Uninstall all entries named: Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributable (both x64 and x86)

    Restart Windows

    Download and reinstall both:

Or you can check Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads to download correct versions.

    Restart again and test again.

    2. Check Office architecture

    • Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint > File > Account > About Word / About Excel / About PowerPoint
    • Ensure 64‑bit Office is installed on 64‑bit Windows
    • If mismatched, uninstall Office and reinstall the correct version.

    3. Repair Windows system files

    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
    • Run: sfc /scannow
    • Restart when finished.

Additional tip: Try temporarily turning off antivirus software to check if it’s causing interference.

I hope these steps could help resolve the issue. Please let me know how it goes!

The error indicates that the Office binaries (such as mfc42cr64.dll) are corrupted or not loading correctly, so Office apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint fail when opening any file. Repairing or reinstalling Microsoft 365/Office is the supported fix.

    Follow these steps on Windows:

    1. Close all Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
    2. Open SettingsAppsInstalled apps (or Apps & features on some builds).
    3. Find the Microsoft 365/Office product in the list.
    4. Choose Modify → select Online Repair (full repair), then start the repair.
      • This is more thorough than the quick “Repair now” option and is the recommended approach when Office apps show generic “has run into an error” or image/DLL errors.
    5. When the repair completes, restart Windows and try opening Word/Excel/PowerPoint again.

If the problem persists after an Online Repair, completely uninstall Office from Installed apps / Apps & features, reboot, and then reinstall Microsoft 365/Office from the account portal.
