Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hi Lissette Nahmens,
I understand this situation can be frustrating, especially since that @hotmail.com address was your original one.
From what you described, the mailbox itself is still there, which is why your existing emails are still available. However, if a Microsoft email alias such as @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, @live.com, or @msn.com is removed from the account, that alias is permanently deleted and can’t be restored or linked back to a Microsoft account again.
Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.
I understand this is not the result you were hoping for. At this point, the old @hotmail.com alias itself cannot be recovered, but you can continue using the current address on the account, since your mailbox data is still intact. In addition, please note that it isn't possible to create a new alias using @hotmail, @live.com, or @msn.com. If a Hotmail address is important to you, you need to sign out and create a new account. For more information, please visit Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com - Microsoft Support
If that old address was being used on other websites or services, I’d recommend updating those accounts to your current email address as soon as possible.
You can also review your current aliases here https://account.live.com/names/Manage
I hope this information helps clarify the situation. Thank you so much for your understanding.
