Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Yes. A current Microsoft 365 subscription can be canceled and a different subscription purchased instead.
For a personal Microsoft 365 subscription:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the account that owns the subscription.
- Under Services & subscriptions, find the current Microsoft 365 plan.
- Select Manage, then choose Cancel subscription or turn off recurring billing so it expires.
- After canceling (or once it expires), purchase the new Microsoft 365 subscription that matches the desired features.
If switching to a plan with fewer features, the process is effectively “cancel then switch”:
- On the Subscriptions tab at https://account.microsoft.com/services, select Manage for the existing plan.
- Select Cancel subscription.
- On the Cancel page, choose the new plan with fewer features.
- Complete the steps; the subscription changes to the new plan at renewal, and charges for the new plan start at that time.
Canceling a subscription does not delete the Microsoft account itself; email addresses such as Outlook.com or Gmail-linked accounts remain, but access to subscription features changes when the plan ends.
