A retired MCP certification can still be viewed and shared, but attaching an old MCP ID to a current Learn profile or recovering legacy details requires help from the official credentials support team.

    Use these steps:

    1. Sign in to the current Microsoft Learn profile and check under Credentials → Certifications and the Transcript section to see if the old certification is already listed. Retired credentials remain visible and shareable on the transcript.
    2. If the old MCP certification or MCP ID does not appear, contact Microsoft credentials support so they can locate and associate the legacy MCP record with the current account. Use the dedicated support channel described in the references below.
    3. Once the credential appears in the Learn profile, share it with an employer by either:
      • Sharing the transcript link from Profile → Transcript → Share link, or
      • Printing/saving the transcript or digital certificate as PDF and sending that file.

If the MCP ID is very old (for example, from the early 2000s) and cannot be accessed through self-service, credentials support is the correct path to attempt recovery and association.
