I have been charger €99 for Microsoft 365 which I did not sign up for. How do I claim a refund and ensure this does not happen in the future?

This forum is just a user to user forum, no-one here has any account access, if you are sure no-one else has access to your banking details, using any Microsoft account you may have, try using the steps they provide on this link to find out what that payment was for.

Then use the steps they provide on this link to cancel whatever that payment was for and get a refund.

If you are still unable to resolve that payment problem, you will need to contact Microsoft Support directly, try using this method to contact their support.

    Go to this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Select Microsoft 365

    Click 'Get Home Support'.

In the box provided, type billing.

Press Enter, then on the next page, scroll down and click 'Sign in to Contact Support'.

Navigate to Microsoft 365 and Office - Manage my Subscription.

Select the 'Chat with support agent in web browser' option

To claim a refund and stop future unauthorized Microsoft 365 charges, follow these steps.

    1. Investigate the charge
    • Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate for the unrecognized charge: Manage your payments.
    • This helps determine whether the charge is from:
      • A Microsoft 365 subscription with recurring billing enabled.
      • A purchase made by someone you know using your card.
      • A previously declined charge that was retried.

More detail is in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.

    1. Check if the subscription is in a Microsoft account
    1. Cancel the subscription and request a refund (if purchased from Microsoft) If the subscription appears under Services & subscriptions and was bought directly from Microsoft:
    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the account that shows the Microsoft 365 subscription.
    2. Find the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
    3. Select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the on‑screen steps.
    4. During cancellation, the flow will indicate whether the subscription is eligible for a refund. Not all cancellations result in a refund.

If the subscription was purchased in a country with prorated refunds (for example, Canada, Israel, Korea, Turkey, or certain longer-term subscriptions in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal), a partial refund may be available depending on subscription length and status.

    1. If the charge is unauthorized or accidental
    • For accidental or unauthorized purchases, follow the guidance in Cancel an order or pre-order from Microsoft Store and then use Returning items you bought from Microsoft for exchange or refund (linked from that article) to request a refund.
    • If the charge cannot be matched to any Microsoft account or subscription after using Manage your payments and checking all accounts, contact Microsoft Support directly so an agent can review the transaction details.
    1. If the subscription was bought through a third party If the Microsoft 365 subscription was purchased via a retailer or app store (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Best Buy):
    • Microsoft cannot cancel or refund these subscriptions.
    • Contact the retailer’s support directly for cancellation and refund, using their refund processes (for example, Google Play or Apple support as described in the context).
    1. Prevent future unauthorized charges
    • After resolving the current charge:
      • Turn off recurring billing for any subscriptions you want to end by going to Services & subscriptions → select the subscription → Manage → turn off recurring billing.
      • Review all active subscriptions under https://account.microsoft.com/services and cancel any that are not needed.
      • If someone else used the card without permission, work with the bank to block or replace the card and dispute any fraudulent transactions.
      • If there is any sign the Microsoft account was compromised, follow the steps in how to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account and how to help protect your Microsoft account (linked from the billing-charge and unauthorized-purchase articles).
