Word crashes almost every time I try to paste something copied from the internet. I have to use Powerpoint, paste it there, copy it again and paste it into Word. Then it doesn't crash

Which type of content are you trying to paste? For example, are you trying to paste a graphic or ordinary text?

If you are dealing with text, see if pasting as Unformatted Text into Word prevents the crashing. Use the Paste Special dialog box (Home tab > Paste > Paste Special).

    Hi,

When did the issue start, and were there any changes made to your computer before the issue occurred?

Are you using a Microsoft 365 subscription, or do you have a one-time purchase version such as Microsoft Office 2024?

I first suggest that you try the AI-suggested solution to repair Office. If the issue persists, continue with the steps below:

Open any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.), sign out of your account, then sign back in using the correct Microsoft account.

If that didn’t fix the issue, go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now to ensure your Office apps are fully updated.

The crashes are consistent with a damaged or unstable Office/Word installation rather than the specific web content. The recommended fix is to run an Online Repair of Office, which reinstalls and repairs all Word components.

    Follow these steps on Windows:

    1. Close all Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    2. Open SettingsSystemAppsInstalled apps.
    3. Find the Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 entry.
    4. Select it and choose Modify.
    5. Select Online Repair, then choose Repair and let the process complete.
    6. Restart the computer and test copy/paste from the internet directly into Word again.

If Word still crashes after an Online Repair, repeat the steps to run another Online Repair. If the problem persists, completely uninstall Office, restart the PC, and reinstall Office from the Microsoft account services page.
