    Hi THAKUR, GEETA (EXTERN),

I understand the account shows as blocked whenever you try to sign in. The Q&A Assist answer is a good starting point for a personal Outlook.com account, especially the Sign-in Helper steps. Have you had a chance to try those steps yet?

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors here can suggest troubleshooting steps based on the information shared, but cannot access your account, sign-in history, security information, or unblock the account from our side.

I would just like to ask one clarification: could you please share the exact blocked message shown on the sign-in page? For example, does it say, “Your account has been locked,” “Your account has been temporarily blocked,” or something else? Please do not include your full email address, phone number, security code, or any private account details.

If this is a personal Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, or MSN account, you can continue with the Microsoft Sign-in Helper. If the page shows a link that starts with “aka.ms/”, please follow that link and submit the requested information.

Once you share the specific blocked message, contributors can better suggest the correct next step.

    I hope this helps.

The account is likely being temporarily blocked due to unusual or risky sign-in activity detected by Microsoft, or because of too many failed sign-in or verification attempts.

    To resolve this:

    1. Use the official Sign-in Helper
      • Go to the Sign-in Helper and follow the steps to unblock the Outlook.com account.
    2. Try another verification method or network
      • If a "Try another verification method" message appears, use a different verification method already configured on the account (for example, alternate email instead of SMS).
      • If possible, switch to another network (different Wi‑Fi or mobile data) and try again.
    3. Wait out the temporary block
      • Avoid repeated sign-in or verification attempts, as they can extend the block.
      • Wait at least 24 hours before trying again. If there is still no change, wait longer (up to a week) before further attempts.
    4. If the account remains blocked
      • Follow the guidance in Unblock my Outlook.com account.
      • If unblocking still fails, use the "When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account" link from that article to access additional recovery and support options.
