What licence did you purchase is that a standalone Word licence or a full Office 2024 licence or Microsoft 365 subscription, open Word, then go to File - Account, what licence is listed there?

Uninstalling or reinstalling Office apps like Word can remove or break the shared Office installation that Excel depends on. Excel is part of the same Office suite, so when Word was removed, the whole Office installation (including Excel) was likely uninstalled or deactivated.

To get Excel back and ensure Word is updated and working:

    1. Reinstall the correct Office product
      • If using a one-time purchase (for example, Office Home & Student or Office 2016/2019/2021/2024), reinstall it from the Microsoft account’s Services & subscriptions page, then run the installer so that Word and Excel are installed together.
      • If using a Microsoft 365 subscription, reinstall Office from the subscription page so both Word and Excel are installed.
    2. Activate Office
      • Open Word or Excel after reinstalling.
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft account or work/school account that owns the license.
      • Confirm activation under File > Account.
    3. Update Office
      • Open Word or Excel and create a new document.
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now to ensure all apps (including Excel) are current.

If Excel still does not appear after reinstalling and updating, check the Start menu for Excel and verify that the installed product actually includes Excel (for example, Microsoft 365 Basic does not include desktop apps like Word or Excel).
