    Hi,

What is the make and model of your device?

In the search bar, type MSINFO32 and hit Enter.

Please share a screenshot of that window.

Please try the following methods that usually fix audio issues:

    1. Press Windows key + R, type mmsys.cpl, and click OK.

    Go to the Playback tab.

Check if your Speaker is listed.

If it is, right click on it and select Enable.

Right click it again and choose Set as Default Device.

Use an older driver or uninstalling then reinstalling the driver:

    1. Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers.
    3. Right-click on your audio driver(Realtek HD Audio, AMD High Definition Audio, etc.)and choose Update driver.
    4. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software"
    5. Click "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer."
    6. Select an older driver from the list and click 'Next.'
    7. Follow the onscreen instructions.
    8. if the problem continues, repeat 1-3 and hit uninstall device instead.
    9. Restart your computer(not shutdown) then check if the issue is resolved.

    Enable Windows Audio:

Press the Windows key + R, type services.msc and press Enter.

Scroll through the list and double-click "Windows Audio."

Click the "Start" or 'Restart' button to enable Windows Audio.

Double Click Windows audio, Choose Automatic from the Startup type, click Apply then Ok.

Follow these steps in order on Windows 11:

    1. Check the selected output device
      1. Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      2. Select the arrow to the right of the volume slider (tooltip: Select a sound output).
      3. In the list, choose the correct device (for example, your laptop speakers or the speakers actually connected). If an external monitor without speakers is selected, switch back to the real speakers.
    2. Check hardware and volume controls
      1. Verify speaker/headphone cables are firmly plugged in and in the correct jack (typically green for output).
      2. Make sure the speakers are powered on.
      3. Confirm nothing is muted and volumes are turned up:
        • System volume: use the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
        • App volume: some apps have their own volume sliders.
      4. If using USB speakers or a USB headset, try a different USB port.
      5. If headphones are plugged in, unplug them and see if sound returns on speakers.
    3. Check sound settings and mute/disable state
      1. Right‑click the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      2. Select the arrow to the right of the volume slider to open the list of audio devices.
      3. Select the settings icon next to Volume mixer (tooltip: More mixer settings).
      4. In Volume mixer, make sure none of the device or app sliders show an "x" (muted). If they do, unmute and raise the volume.
      5. Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      6. Under Advanced, select More sound settings.
      7. On the Playback tab, select your speakers, choose Properties, and under Device usage ensure Use this device (enable) is selected.
    4. Run the audio troubleshooter
      1. Open Start > Settings > System.
      2. Select Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      3. In the Audio section, select Run to start the troubleshooter and apply any fixes it suggests.

If the X over the speaker persists after these steps, update or reinstall the audio driver via Device Manager and the PC manufacturer’s support site, as driver issues are a common cause of “no audio device” or muted output.
