Teams tabs issue

When clicking tabs at the top of Teams channels which are linked to a Sharepoint Library, it continues to show me data from the previous tab or data from a completely different tab. It's happening for multiple users. I cleared the cache (C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe) and it did not fix the issue. Needs fixing as this wasn't previously happening. A recent update must have broken something.

    Hello @Phillip Bond,

Thank you for sharing the details of your issue and the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken. I understand how disruptive this behavior can be, especially since it is affecting multiple users and was not happening previously.

Based on your description, as this issue is impacting multiple users and persists even after clearing the Teams cache, it may require a deeper investigation on the service side. In such scenarios, the most effective way forward is to involve Microsoft Support so they can access backend diagnostics and analyze the behavior in more detail.

I would recommend creating a support ticket using the following guide: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn This will allow the support team to collect logs, check the service health from your tenant, and investigate potential backend issues that are not visible from the client side.

If you would like to speed up the investigation, you may also consider collecting Teams logs in advance and sharing them directly with the support agent once your case is created. This can help reduce turnaround time. You can follow this guide to collect logs: Collect log files for monitoring and troubleshooting in Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

I understand this may not be the most convenient step, but for issues affecting multiple users like this, direct support involvement is usually the most effective path to resolution.

Please feel free to keep me updated on your progress, and I’ll be glad to assist further where I can.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

    Best regards,

The described behavior matches known issues where Teams tabs that surface SharePoint or other web content fail to refresh correctly, often after recent updates or when Conditional Access or embedding restrictions are involved.

Based on the available information, the following supported mitigations apply:

    1. Use the “Open in browser” option
      • When a tab that loads a website or SharePoint content does not refresh correctly, use the banner option Open in browser (or Go to the website) to open the content in a separate browser window. This avoids the Teams in‑client rendering path that is misbehaving.
      • In the new Teams desktop client, when a website tab fails to load correctly, a banner appears; select Open in browser to work around the issue.
    2. Use the dedicated SharePoint app/tab instead of a generic Website tab
      • If the tab is configured as a Website tab pointing to a SharePoint page or library, switch to using the built‑in SharePoint Pages (or other SharePoint integration) app instead of a generic website tab. This is explicitly recommended when loading SharePoint content in Teams channels.
    3. Be aware of Conditional Access impact on tabs
      • If Conditional Access policies were recently enabled or changed, website and app tabs (including SharePoint List/Power BI/Forms) can misbehave in the desktop client while still working in the browser.
      • In such cases, verify whether the same tabs work correctly in the Teams web client (Edge/Chrome with the Windows 10 Accounts extension, as applicable). If they do, the issue is likely related to Conditional Access and current limitations of the desktop client.
      • Where Conditional Access is required, prefer using Teams in a supported browser for those tabs until full support is available.
    4. General cache reset guidance
      • For the new Teams client, the supported cache reset is via Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Microsoft Teams → Advanced options → Reset, which deletes app data and forces Teams to rebuild its cache. This is the documented method and may be more complete than manually deleting a subset of cache folders.

If the issue persists after using the browser‑based workarounds and verifying Conditional Access behavior, continue using “Open in browser” or the SharePoint app/tab as the primary path until a client update resolves the regression.
