Subscription Cancelation Issues

Dear Microsoft,

I have exhausted myself in following all your directions on how to cancel my subscription to Microsoft Office/365. I have screenshots to prove my efforts. I don't need this subscription anymore and haven't used it much over the past year.

I did not receive an email notification that it would automatically renew on May 28, 2026. I have checked all my email accounts to find such an email and there is not one.

Thankfully, my credit card company contacted me to let me know about the charge. I would like to cancel and refund the $109. I would be grateful to negotiate the prorated amount for a refund. I would appreciate your help on this issue. I have already contacted my credit card company to let them know I'm having issues with cancelling and refunding it directly with Microsoft.

Please, reply to ******@gmail.com.

Sincerely and Respectfully,

Anne Carr

    Hi,

Please note that Microsoft Q&A is a user-to-user forum. We do not have access to accounts or billing systems. Please use the instructions in the following article to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-investigate-a-billing-charge-from-microsoft-398c5328-364c-d5e4-ea8f-f5ad60562a93

Then follow the instructions here to cancel your subscription and request a possible refund:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/subscriptions/how-to-get-a-refund-on-a-microsoft-subscription.

If it doesn’t work or you need further assistance, for your security and privacy, I recommend contacting Microsoft Billing Support directly, as this request involves personal or sensitive information that should not be shared in a public forum.

    Click this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/

Sign in to your Microsoft account.

Select Microsoft 365 > Click 'Get home support'.

Type "Chat with an agent" from the text field and press Enter.

Click "Contact support" at the bottom.

Select the product you need help with.

Follow the prompts to connect with a live agent or request a call back.

To cancel the Microsoft 365 subscription and request a refund, follow these steps using the same Microsoft account that was used to purchase the subscription:

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
    2. Locate the Microsoft 365 subscription under Services & subscriptions and select Manage.
    3. On the next page, select Cancel subscription (it may appear as Upgrade or Cancel), then follow the prompts to complete cancellation.
      • If instead of Cancel there is a link that says Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not renew again.

To check refund eligibility and request a refund:

    1. After signing in and canceling as above, use the same Microsoft account and follow the guidance in How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription for Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium.
    2. If the subscription was purchased directly from Microsoft and the account is in a country or region that supports prorated refunds (for example, Canada, Israel, Korea, Turkey, and, for certain subscription lengths, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal), a prorated refund may be available after cancellation. See the Countries with prorated refunds for Microsoft subscriptions section referenced in the documentation.
    3. If the subscription was purchased through a third party such as Google Play or the Apple App Store, cancellation and refund must be requested through that store’s customer support, as described in the refund article.

If cancellation still cannot be completed online after following these steps, sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin or account portal (as applicable) and use the support/contact options there, or continue working with the credit card issuer to dispute or block further recurring charges.
