Manage Microsoft IQ sources in an agent (preview)

[This article is prerelease documentation and is subject to change.]

Important

This is a preview feature.

  • Microsoft releases preview features before an official release so that customers can get early access and provide feedback.
  • Preview features have restricted functionality and aren't meant for production use.
  • Microsoft might change preview MCP tool names and parameters. Avoid hard-coded dependencies. Microsoft maintains scenario support.
  • Preview features are subject to Microsoft supplemental terms of use.

After enabling Work IQ for your agent, you can manage individual sources—enabling, disabling, and configuring them based on your agent's needs.

View sources that are on

  1. Open your agent in Copilot Studio.
  2. Select the Build tab.
  3. In the components panel, select the Microsoft IQ section.
  4. View the list of sources with their on/off status.

Turn a source on or off

  1. In the Microsoft IQ section, select the source you want to change.
  2. In the source detail panel, toggle the source on or off.
  • When a source is off, the agent can't access data or take actions through that source.
  • Turn the source back on at any time.

Note

Turning off a source doesn't remove any scoped knowledge you've configured for it. If you turn the source back on, your scoped knowledge settings are preserved.

View source details

Each Microsoft IQ source detail panel shows:

  • Overview: A description of what the source provides.
  • Knowledge: Data the agent can read from this source, plus any scoped knowledge items you've added.
  • Tools: Actions the agent can perform through this source, if the source is configured to surface as tools rather than knowledge.

Manage scoped knowledge

  1. Open a source's detail panel.
  2. In the Knowledge section, review the scoped items.
  3. Select Add to pin new items or select Remove next to an existing item to remove it.

Turn off all Microsoft IQ sources

To turn off all Microsoft IQ access at once:

  1. In the Microsoft IQ section, toggle Allow all off.
  2. All sources are off. Individual source configurations are preserved for when you turn them back on.

Note

At runtime, a maximum of 4 active knowledge sources are searched per query by default. If you have more than 4 Work IQ sources enabled, the system uses a pre-filter to select the most relevant ones for each query.
