Add AI-generated text using Copilot

An easy way to add text to your Power Pages website is to ask Copilot to create it for you. Describe the text you need. Copilot generates copy based on your description and offers a preview for you to check. You can add the text to your site as it is, edit it first, or start over with a different description.

This feature is now generally available (GA) for all regions with the exception of Canada, the Government Cloud (GCC), and the Government Community Cloud – High (GCC High).

Generate text with Copilot

  1. Go to the Pages workspace and select a page for your form.

  2. Select the Text component.

  3. In the text component toolbar, select Copilot.

  4. Describe the text that you want to Copilot to generate; for example, "I want to describe the benefits of student loan options at Contoso university." You can use up to 1,500 characters in your description.

  5. To send your description to Copilot, press the Enter key or select the paper airplane icon in the lower-right corner of the text box.

  6. Check the preview below your description and refine the text as needed.

    • To refine your description and generate new text, select Rewrite.
    • To keep the generated text but make it sound more friendly, casual, educational, professional, or excited, select Change the tone.
    • To keep the generated text but make it more concise or expand on it, select Adjust the length.
    • To give Copilot more information, select Add more details for Copilot to work with.
    • To give Microsoft feedback on how well Copilot interpreted your description or refinement, select the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon.

  7. To add the text to the page, select Add to page.

Important

AI-generated text can contain mistakes or be otherwise inappropriate for your intended use. Always review, edit, and verify AI-generated text before you change your site's visibility to public.

After the text is added to the page, you can edit it the same way you edit any page component.

Change the tone and length and add details: Examples

Here are examples of the same generated text, before and after applying refinements in tone and length and giving Copilot more information. Note how each generation builds on your previous selections.

  • Original text:

    Contoso University offers a range of student loan options to help students pay for their education. With competitive interest rates, flexible repayment plans, and no hidden fees. Contoso University's student loan program is an excellent choice for students looking for financial assistance. Plus, Contoso University's experienced loan advisors are available to help students understand their loan options and find the best solution for their individual needs. With Contoso University, students can be confident that they are getting the best loan option for their educational goals.

  • After changing the tone to Friendlier:

    At Contoso University, we understand that financing your education can be a challenge. That's why we offer a range of student loan options to help make your dreams a reality. Our loans come with competitive interest rates, flexible repayment plans, and no hidden fees - so you can be sure you're getting the best deal. Plus, our experienced loan advisors are here to guide you through the process and help you find the best loan option for your individual needs. With Contoso University, you can be confident that you're getting the best loan option for your educational goals - and that you're doing so with a friendly and supportive team by your side.

  • After changing the length to Make it shorter:

    At Contoso University, we understand financing your education can be a challenge.
