    The asterisk (*). It can be used in strings to match any number of characters. For example:
    *windows matches any string that ends with "windows".
    windows* matches any string that starts with "windows".
    *windows* matches any string that contains "windows".
    * matches any string.

  • workgroup
    A logical grouping of computers used to browse network resources. The following operating systems support workgroups: Windows NT/Windows 2000, Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft Network Client, and Microsoft Workgroup Add-on for MS-DOS.
