Connections by Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools®

People thrive off of connections. But, we often connect with people who are most like us. This can limit our beliefs and lead to negative assumptions of others.

Why should we strive to connect with others?

Connections with people who aren't like us improve our thinking and add to our perspectives. They help us become more empathetic. It's important to help students feel comfortable forming unique connections. This will help them become inclusive members of society.

Students will work with images, videos, and texts in order to discover the importance of building connections. First, students will identify the relationships they can build in different environments. They'll look at their own connections. Then, they'll learn how these connections can change or grow over time. Finally, they'll discover how building meaningful connections can have positive personal and societal impacts.
