Add essential cards for Viva Connections for Education
The Viva Connections dashboard comes with a set of built-in cards, but is also designed to enable SaaS providers, system integrators, and in-house development teams to create their own cards to meet their business needs.
Cards in the Viva Connections dashboard are based on adaptive cards and the SharePoint Framework (SPFx). They provide a low-code solution to bring your line-of-business apps into the dashboard. Built-in cards
The Viva Connections dashboard comes with a set of built-in cards, some of which are tailored specifically to education, such as the Assignments and Courses cards.
For example, you want students to be able to view past-due and upcoming assignments at a glance. You can add an Assignments card to students' dashboards.
To add the card, select +Add a card from the dashboard while in edit mode, select Assignments from the web toolbox. Configure your card from the options in the property pane.
To make sure only the audience you specify sees the card, select one or more groups to target. For more information on audience targeting, see Audience targeting.
You can also add a card to that displays the courses that a user is enrolled in by selecting Courses from the web toolbox.
Open-source cards
More open-source cards are available in the GitHub Repository for the Microsoft Viva Connections Adaptive Card sample solutions from Microsoft and community. Examples of education-specific cards include:
- Tuitions
- Internships
- Scholarships
- Library loans
- Book a space
In the samples folder in the repository, you can find samples of the SharePoint Framework Adaptive Card Extensions (ACE). Each sample has its own dedicated readme file to explain the setup instructions and demonstrate the capability of the card.
