Agents powered by the GitHub Copilot harness combine knowledge, tools, and skills to complete tasks by using approved information and current data. This module explains how to select and configure these building blocks, validate their use in Preview, and refine the descriptions that help the agent choose what to use.

Learning objectives

After completing this module, you can:

  • Distinguish knowledge, tools, and skills, and choose the appropriate tool type.
  • Add and validate knowledge sources, grounding, and citations.
  • Configure an existing connector tool and its inputs.
  • Connect an agent to an existing Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.
  • Add a supplied skill and refine its activation description.
  • Test connector, MCP, and workflow tools, and improve an agent based on the results.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of agents powered by the GitHub Copilot harness
  • Experience creating and testing an agent in Copilot Studio
  • Access to a Microsoft Copilot Studio environment where you can create agents
