Managing a DTC Resource When a Node Is Evicted

Applies To: Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server Technical Preview, Windows Vista

When managing a cluster, you might occasionally need to evict a node from the cluster. This requires that you first stop the cluster service that is currently running on that node.

When a node is evicted and that node is an owner of a DTC resource, failover occurs and all resources owned by that node, such as a DTC resource and its dependencies, are transferred to another node in the cluster. For information about managing failover, see Failover and Failback in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Note

Adding a node to or evicting a node from a cluster is done by accessing Control Panel and selecting Add or Remove Programs. From this window, you can start or stop the cluster service on a node.
