I submitted a refund request some time ago, and the portal shows that it has been received, but I haven’t received any updates since then. On 10th April 2026

Has anyone experienced delays like this? How long does it usually take to get a response or refund status update? Any guidance on what steps to take next would be helpful.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

When you go to your Microsoft Account Order History page, do you see the status shown as “Refunded”?

If Microsoft has issued the refund, you will typically receive the amount to the original payment method within 3–5 working days. Since it has already been a month, you should have received the amount by now.

If you still haven’t received it, please check your bank statement for the last month to see if the amount has been credited. If it has not been received, contact your bank for further assistance.

Note - Contributors in Q&A cannot directly help with this, because we do not have access to user accounts or billing information (nor should we). If you’d like, you can try contacting Microsoft Support using the link here -https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Hello,

This is a public forum, so for your privacy and security, we can’t help with billing issues here. Also, no one in this forum has access to your account or payment information.

To get help, open the "Get Help" app on your computer (just search for it in the Start menu). or go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

For Microsoft Store and Microsoft 365/Office-related refunds, processing and status visibility work as follows:

    1. Typical processing time
    • For Microsoft Store apps, games, and subscriptions, refund requests generally take up to 72 hours to be processed after submission.
    • For physical devices (Surface, Xbox hardware, etc.), refunds are generally processed within 3–5 business days after the returned item is received and found eligible.
    • Once a refund is issued, most banks/payment providers take an additional 3–5 business days to post the money back to the original payment method.
    1. How to check refund status
    • For Microsoft Store games and apps (including some subscription-related purchases):
      1. Go to the Xbox order history page. Open Order history
      2. Find the product; the entry will show the refund status.
      3. If the status shows the refund has been issued but the money is not yet in the account, wait a few days for the bank to complete processing.
    • For Microsoft subscriptions (such as Microsoft 365):
      1. Open the Microsoft account Order history page. Open Order history
      2. Locate the subscription; if a refund was approved, the order line will include the refund status.
      3. If it shows a refund issued but no money yet, wait a few days; bank processing can take additional time. If no refund entry appears, the request may have been outside the refund eligibility period.
    • For hardware purchases from Microsoft Store:
      1. Go to Order history. Open Order history
      2. Find the device; the entry will show return or refund status.
      3. After Microsoft issues the refund, allow a few days for the payment provider to post it.
    1. What to do next if there is a delay
    • If the portal shows the request was received but there is no change in status and it has been longer than:
      • ~72 hours for digital content (apps/games), or
      • several business days after a refund is shown as issued, then:
      • Re-check the Order history or Xbox order history page to confirm whether a refund decision has been recorded.
      • If no clear status or refund entry appears, or if the money has not arrived after several days from the “refund issued” date, contact Sales support or Microsoft Support for direct assistance with the specific order and account.

Because account-specific actions require secure access, only Microsoft Support can review or correct a stuck or delayed refund request.
