I have a BSOD after last updates on Win 10 2004. BSOD is System thread exception not handled and wpprecorder.sys. It happens on few laptops and two PC with different hardware. System restore didn’t help.
System reboots after 3-5 minutes logon.
How we can resolve it?

Got the same problem ( from 22.10.2020 on Windows 10 32Bit vers. 2004 ) and I have tried everything and still got blue screen with System thread exception not handled and wpprecorder.sys . I think that only one solution for now is to stop Windows update ( 30min and PC still working ) don't have to roll-back vers. to older just stop that Update.
Thanks a lot Microsoft live is more interesting because of You ...

Hi Mondissimo, thanks for the idea but it was a solution that I had already thought of doing, since I had understood that the problem occurs only on 32-bit versions of Windosw, I did not want to follow this path for too much time. I was looking for a much faster situation without reformatting and installing all over again, management software drivers, printers etc. etc.

I have the same problem since 22-10-2020
I tried all the above solutions and nothing works
The problems occurs immidiatly when I open the update screen, otherwise it occures after 1 ore 2 minutes.
I have this problem only on 2 computers in our company with the same hard- and software
    OS W10 32 bit version 2004
    motherboard Asus Prime B250M-K
    processor i7

I hope this post helps some people.

We have had this exact same BSOD since 22/10/2020 .

This is a frustrating, misterious and tricky issue to resolve.

We have a fleet of approximatly 100 computers and I have wasted approximatly 30 hours on this issue since last Friday 23/10, the problem has affected approximatly 7 computers so far wthat we know of.

The symptom of this error is (as already explained by others here) that the affected computer gets the BSOD system_thread_exception_not_handled for WppRecorder.sys.

This happens when Idle and internet connected every 3-4 minutes and the BSOD can be reliably triggered by going to windows update via the modern Metro W10 UI and crashes within a second or selecting the "Update & Security" link and at this point you can sometinmes see there is a pending update for an INTEL Driver (which you can momenterilly see is trying to install before the systen crashes). I also believe this INTEL windows update is some now causing the crash when it tries to install and you are internet connected.

The affected computers we have so far identified all have a 7th generation intel CPU and running the latest W10 32 bit version 2004 (OS build 19041.572).

The crash does not happen in safe mode where windows update in inpoerable.

Many hours have been spent stuffing around with every suggestion we could find including disable ntfs compression with fsutil, Dism online refresh, sfc /scannow other decompress.exe commands etc. etc. all of which did not work.

We have had 1 computer that was affected and it resloved by itself after 5 hours of re-booting every 4 minutes.

We have been able to solve this by:
1)Uninstall the last 3 windows updates "KB4579311", "KB4578968" and "Flash player update" by navigating to Control panel>Programs and Features>View installed updates.
2)Move the affacted computers (temporarily) to a site/network with a different subnet internet connection and different DNS.
    3) Plug in a different mouse and keyboard. > the system downloads drivers for these and installs them.
4)The systen detects a different subnet network > Click yes to accept sharing on new network.
5)At this point we can go to the windows (Metro) update interface without the system crashing!
6)The system downloads and installs the previously uninstalled updates "KB4579311", "KB4578968" and "Flash player update".
    7) the INTEL update is now in the optional updates section and is either not installed or can be at your own risk - it does not appear to break the system.
    8)reboot
    9) You now have a table system again which can update via the modern windows metro style settings system.
    10) Repeat on another 10-20 computers.

Short version - move system to another site and network environment and take the above steps to get systen to update and not get trapped in this BSOD boot loop!

    Good luck fixing your systems.

Microssoft should address this with priority urgency!
