Here is what worked for me:

  1. Log in with an Administrator account
  2. Stop the following services via Computer Management > Services and Applications > Services:
  • Application Experience
  • Background Intelligent Transfer Service
  • Windows Store Service (WSService)
  • Windows Update
  1. Once those services are stopped, open up Windows Explorer
  2. Go to: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
  3. Delete the contents of this folder
  4. Restart the following services via Computer Management > Services and Applications > Services:
  • Application Experience
  • Background Intelligent Transfer Service
  • Windows Store Service (WSService)
  • Windows Update
  • OR -

Restart your machine 7. Head over to Windows Store and everything should work. Also run Windows Update as it will need to rebuild its 'check list' of patches.

I hope this helps some of you folks out there.

Cheers,

Mike

    Mike,

Thanks for this solution it fixed my problem of not being able to update apps from the store or get new apps. What I was getting was 0x80240437 for either the updates or new app installs. I think this area must get corrupted somehow. There are a lot of people out there with the 0x80240437 issue in the Windows Store.

    Thanks again.

I'm not entirely sure. I know this solution beats doing a reinstall or resetting your PC.

    Hi **** Venning**,**

    1)      Do you get this error when trying to install app/apps from Windows Store?

    2)      Could you please let us know what troubleshooting steps you have followed?

You may follow these methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try these steps and check if it helps:

    a. Open Windows Store.

    b. Hit "Windows Key+ C" to open Charms bar.

    c. Click on Settings.

    d. Click "Your Account".

    e. Sign out from the account and sign in again.

    Check if it helps.

If the issue persists, check with a different live account.

Method 2: You may try to temporarily disable the third party Security Software and firewalls. If this resolves the issue, you may try to check with the manufacturer of the Security Software for an update for the software.

Note: Enable the security software back after checking for the issue.
