I am getting the following errors messages when trying to create a backup image:

There was a failure creating the backup image in one of the volumes in the backup set (0x807800C5)

Additional information:

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (0x80070020)

I have also attached a screenshot of the error message.

I have tried running sfx /scannow and that does not fix the problem.

This is a link to the event log entries when the failure occurs:

I too had the message. Tried all methods short of Clean boot.  Trouble determining what file was being used.

It was the desktop which was the culprit.  Windows 10 desktop - right click - choose personalize - I had selected Slideshow so the system had my picture file locked.  As soon as I selected background colour only the Backup worked.

Too bad the message didn't say what file was being used.

I had done this procedure several times.

With WIndows 7 it was always without any issues.

But with windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, this is always problematic. I was never successful in restoring an image of Windows 10 backup. Therefore I decided tp try a paid version of Macrium Reflect, which never let me down.

I had also tried Acronis true image. OK but a bit slow.

    Hi,

If you have an old backup rename your folder like this :

WindowsImageBackup.OLD and try again. This fixed my problem.

    Best Regards,

    GG
