This service is consuming 15-20% CPU All the time (but never beyond 25%) on my laptop (Dell XPS 15 7590) & its very annoying becuase this triggers fan noise even while doing minimal tasts on my computer & also consumes battery life

I have referred to other posts around the forum and have already tried the following CMD commands

Sfc.exe /scannow

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Any help would be much apreciated, TIA

So I tried the clean boot with every thing removed, all non microsoft services turned off and all startup programs disabled, I even turned off throttle stop (undervolting software). No luck connected devices platform user service is still running above 10 percent with a few spikes to 20 percent and over.

I have made sure all my drivers are uptodate.

Do you think runnnig a windows upgrade repair will help ? or a factory reset ? (I Don't want to do this, but if u think it will fix this, ill go for it)

Did you try Process Explorer to see it is show any additional details?

Yes, I would try a Repair Install and then, if needed, a Reset (Dell will probably require that anyway).

A Repair Installation which allows you to keep the programs and data though redundant backups are always a good idea.

If it still happens it has to be hardware or a driver that was not stopped from loading during the Clean Install.

    Has Dell responded?

    Here to help,

Look at the Image tab and the path and command line to see if anything there helps. And it may not. Also look at the other tabs.

So, Upgrade repair didn't help, next step factory reset......

I haven't contacted dell yet because I knew they will have me do a reset before even considering that there is anything wrong.

Here's a thought , how about I just leave this service disabled through registry or manually do it every time I boot ? I mean it seems like a redundant service thus far, there have been no errors when I have disabled it, and everything seems to be working fine.
