Today out of the blue this started on my Dell 9570.
Nothing has been installed. This service is doing a tonne of disk activity.
Has Dell or MS silently done something or could this be a new virus? And Dell & MS better not say to do a factory reset!

This service is consuming 15-20% CPU All the time (but never beyond 25%) on my laptop (Dell XPS 15 7590) & its very annoying becuase this triggers fan noise even while doing minimal tasts on my computer & also consumes battery life
I have referred to other posts around the forum and have already tried the following CMD commands
Sfc.exe /scannow
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Any help would be much apreciated, TIA

So this is not just a problem on Dell laptops , I have seen this similar issue happening on HP laptops (HP Spectre).
Only way out is to stop the service when it is giving you trouble. For me it occurs around 80% of my system boot ups. So it doesn't start reving up the CPU every time I boot up. Prior to resting the windows, it was happening on every restart.
is it possible that this is related to OneDrive syncing and disk management? I see this problem periodically ever since I turned on OneDrive to keep cloud backups of my local drive. Most recently it was this task: connected devices platform user service_a1e7e
Hi everyone,
I have had this problem for the last 2 months (I am talking about the CDPUsersvc) which overloads my PC processor and overuses the battery. Dealing with it, I changed 3 laptops, all different brands. I reinstalled Windows on all computers many times. Right after the re-installation everything would work fine and the CDPUsersvc would not show up, but after 1-3 days it would re-appear. I read everywhere on the Web to stop it from loading after each reboot of the PC, but couldn't find the fix. Today I noticed the exact moment when it appeared, but I'm not sure if this is connected. I use Norton and Norton has a Safe Web feature that can be activated. It is an extension and in my case it is an extension to Google Chrome. When I activated the extension, the CDPUsersvc started working again. So 1) I uninstalled Chrome 2) rebooted computer 3) installed Chrome again 4) activated Safe Web again and CDPUsersvc stopped. I restarted the computer several times and it did not appear anymore. I don't know how long it will last, but at this point everything looks fine.
