Server Error A server error occurred. Please try again. [2605]

A couple of days ago, I noticed that my emails stopped synching in my outlook mobile app. I tried to log out/in and was greeted with the following message:

"Server Error A server error occurred. Please try again. [2605]"

I get this error with every outlook account, on wifi and mobile data, and in web browsers as well. I have another phone and tablet which the app is working perfectly fine.

I have tried essentially every solution that's posted when you search for this error:

  • Turned off wifi
  • Manually added 365 account
  • Cleared cache and data
  • Allowed all permissions
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled outlook
  • Ran phone system update

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am having the same issue, and no matter what was tried by me and IT support team members, it does not work. There is a problem with authentication of my account (Okta). I am ok using Outlook and Teams on my Samsung tablet but not on my phone - Android Galaxy S21 5G. I've been wasting time for the past 3 days trying to fix it, which is very frustrating.

I've tried everything recommended above and more:

    • un-install/re-install apps, clear cache data, turn phone off and on in between
    • remove Okta account and re-add it,
    • turn off automatically syncing account data,
    • reset all network connections and wi-fi (now have to reconnect everywhere)
    • delete Outlook account on my phone. Now when I try to add it back, I run into the same error [2605].

What else is there to try? Three different people in IT tried to assist me, all futile. How is it even possible to have such issue and no solution from Microsoft?

AN UPDATE: Today, on Saturday March 9th, all Microsoft apps started working again with no action on my part other than angry note above. Yesterday I was still getting this [2605] error. I am still to check with IT support at my job, maybe they took some action. I am slowly restoring all my connections one by one (Wi-Fi everywhere, Bluetooth to my car and headset, and so on). This has been a frustrating week with a lot of productive time wasted. We get to rely on technology too much and take for granted and expect that it's always there to serve us when needed...

I got the same issue this morning, I just found a solution that worked for me.

I got the issue in ms Teams and Outlook. I had 2 accounts set in these 2 apps, and both gave the same error. Other MS apps were working fine.

Since the issue is related to authentication, I thought I should clear the full app data in the "MS company portal" App. (you could also uninstall and install it back again)

IMPORTANT NOTE: This will remove Microsoft users from all your apps, INCLUDING the MS authenticator. If you use the authenticator, be sure to duplicate all your users in another mobile phone before you clear the data.

After that, everything was back to normal. Except that I wasted my whole day, but hopefully, this will save yours!

    3. Reinstalled Intune Company Portal and logged in
    4. Logged in to O365
    5. Installed the Outlook and TEAMS from O65 Apps Option

:( Need to reconfigure all my personal setting now.
