Server Error A server error occurred. Please try again. [2605]

A couple of days ago, I noticed that my emails stopped synching in my outlook mobile app. I tried to log out/in and was greeted with the following message:

"Server Error A server error occurred. Please try again. [2605]"

I get this error with every outlook account, on wifi and mobile data, and in web browsers as well. I have another phone and tablet which the app is working perfectly fine.

I have tried essentially every solution that's posted when you search for this error:

  • Turned off wifi
  • Manually added 365 account
  • Cleared cache and data
  • Allowed all permissions
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled outlook
  • Ran phone system update

Any help would be much appreciated.

I think Microsoft errs in suggesting this 2605 error is server related. I and many others found our solution in (Intune) Company Portal app. I wasn't even aware this app was on my phone, but all I had to do was log into it and all the other apps that kept throwing 2605 error logged in fine.

As others have said, this is related to the Company Portal app when (for some unknown reason) the device becomes unregistered.

You may have this on your phone if you access your business data on the device.

Open the Company Portal app and register your device and this should solve the issue.

I had the same issue on my Pixel 6. Uninstalling/reInstalling "Authenticator" app worked.

    1. Uninstall AUthenticator App
    2. Open Outlook, it will force to get that installed again
    3. Add Account in Outlook
    4. Open Teams app

Thank you for posting this! Disabling the sync temporarily allowed me to log into each of the apps.
For anyone else, I had logged into company portal successfully and was still receiving the 2605 error in Outlook + Teams.
