When I tried logging onto my account via web (https://office.microsoft.com/), the site said there was a problem, and to click "refresh".  I tried logging onto the site from two different machines

  • one of them Office was already activated.

I tried again the next day form my machine Office was activated, and the site was working fine.  Tried to activate Office on the second machine and this time it went through.  Verified the site, and it now listed both machines

My guess is, it was the activation site that had problems for that one day.

Everything is working fine now.

    Hey there,

First, log in to your Microsoft account through the browser and go to My Account. You need to add a security question, phone number and alternate email address. Log out from your Microsoft account and the browser. After this, try activating Office again.

    I hope this helps.

I have exactly same problem.

    NOT HAPPY at all!!

I am having the same problem right now. Can't get it working on both of my computers. Not happy with Microsoft AT ALL right now. I have wasted the last 5 hours with the samn issue. I have installed the 64 bit program on both computers to no avail.

EXACTLY the same thing happening with me.  Can't get it working at all.  I've installed and uninstalled both 32 and 64 bit versions and removed them from the registry and restarted my computer countless times and I am SO FED UP with Microsoft and this nonsense.  Have also wasted all afternoon.  I literally DO NOT HAVE the TIME to waste on this.  This is a brand new computer.  Why do I need to log in to an account to "activate" something, why is the product key not good enough?  Actually, why can't I just get a lousy CD anymore????
