    To Obsoletecube331.

Can you provide a link to the posting you are referring to that has the fix for this issue....there seems to be so many posts about the issue of deleting Word/Excel files from Android Word/Excel apps on the MSFT forum I have not see the post you are referring too.

    A link would be helpful.

Surprised this issue between Google and MSFT hasn't been resolved as the posts on this issue go back to 2017

Google tech support has not been of much help as they point to it as being a 3rd party app problem from MSFT and point to MSFT to fix it.

Is there an Admin from MSFT monitoring  this site that can give clear step by step how to remove .doc and .docx files one by one from Android Google Phone Word/Excel apps?  (not a mass deletion of files)

    Thanks all for the guidance.

    Gary

Sorry, I can't find how to link specific posts here. Have a look at my post on page 15.

In short - there is currently no way of doing this the right way. Either you delete all of Word (or another Office application) data (note that this deletes only the internal Word data, it does not touch anything outside of it), or you do nothing and wait for fix from Microsoft.

The files are located within the Word Application and I have not used other programs to delete them

Yes, I know the files are located in the Word App....my question is why is the Word App saying "you don't have permission to delete this file" on my personal phone.  No corporate admin is involved.

All my permissions on the Google Pixel phone are set correctly for my Word and Excel Apps, but yet both Microsoft Word and Excel  apps  have numerous files that I want to delete from the phone and the app is stopping me from doing that.

Seems to be a long running issues with Microsoft Apps on Android devices from what I see on the forums here....Hope it can be resolved.

At this point, the only way to delete the files from my phone are to delete the Microsoft apps....

The answer is short - they failed to correctly implement this feature and do not want to admit that.

And regarding the solution - recently Microsoft rolled out a new update for Office application (i guess that is just a beta version for now). And there they... hid the "Delete file" option. Now you can only hide it from their list. It still gets stuck inside their data folder, but now you can even see it. Great job! (not)
