I have a Pacemaker which is blue toothed connected to the clinic but my computer does not seem to recognise it. When I connected to night via the P/maker name came up as a device then disappeared

Bluetooth medical devices such as pacemakers often use specialized, secure Bluetooth Low Energy profiles that are designed to communicate only with approved clinical equipment or the manufacturer’s app, not with general-purpose Windows computers. As a result, Windows may briefly show the device name when it is nearby and in pairing mode, then remove it because it cannot complete pairing or does not recognize a supported profile.

If the pacemaker is already “blue toothed” to the clinic, pairing it to an additional, non‑approved device (like a home PC) may not be supported or may be intentionally blocked for safety and regulatory reasons. In this case, the behavior described (appears as a device, then disappears, and cannot be used) is expected from Windows.

For Bluetooth on the Windows computer itself (for other devices), the following supported steps apply:

  1. Confirm Bluetooth is turned on in Windows 11:
    • Open Settings with Windows logo key+I.
    • Move to “Bluetooth and devices” and ensure the Bluetooth toggle switch is set to On.
  2. If a Bluetooth device misbehaves, remove and re‑pair it:
    • In Settings → “Bluetooth and devices” → “Devices”, locate the device, open “More options”, choose “Remove device”, confirm with Yes, then pair it again following the device manufacturer’s instructions.

For the pacemaker specifically, only the clinic and device manufacturer can confirm whether any direct PC connection is supported and safe. Contact the cardiology clinic or device manufacturer’s support and follow only their official guidance for connecting or monitoring the pacemaker.
