Hi,

I am a little beyond frustrated. I have a had a charge for Microsoft 365 Business monthly for the last 5 months yet I am not able to locate the account. I may have signed up for a free trial and I got an email that my subscription was renewed. However the email that it was sent to (business email) is not in the system and I have been unable to access the account. I have a tenant number in the email but nothing I do and no emails or phone numbers are associated to the account. Every time I try to call the help line some AI keeps redirecting me to the same wrong places and hanging up. I have no Idea what to do or how find the account even to either use it or cancel it. I am totally stuck and at this for days. I am not even able to easily dispute charges with credit either.

Is there anyone to actually talk to at Microsoft to resolve this? It seems crazy I am not able to get to a person. Help please.

    Dear @Jason Hulbert,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to cover your organization domain name in the description. Please notice to hide these personal or organization information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

Based on your description, you have been charged for a Microsoft 365 Business monthly subscription for the past five months, but you cannot locate or access the associated account. You believe the subscription may have started as a free trial, and although the renewal email includes a tenant ID, the business email it was sent to does not exist in your system. No email address or phone number appears to be linked to the account, you are unable to reach support due to repeated call redirections, and you cannot access the tenant to use or cancel the subscription.

In this situation, I recommend that you first contact your bank and request them to block any further charges from Microsoft to prevent additional billing. In the meantime, if the subscription remains unpaid for approximately three months, it will be canceled automatically. If possible, it would also be helpful if you could share the invoice for the subscription you were charged for, so I can assist in locating your domain and subscription information. Please share this via Private Message, as shown below.

While I don’t have access to internal systems or test devices required to resolve backend issues, I truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. I genuinely hope the information I share helps guide you in the right direction, and I'm always here to assist as much as I can within my scope.

    Looking forward to your update.

To stop the unknown Microsoft 365 Business charges and reach a real support agent, follow these steps:

    1. Investigate what the charge is for
      • Use the official billing investigation flow: go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select “Investigate” for the unrecognized charge. The article How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft explains the typical causes (recurring subscription, family member purchase, retry of a declined charge, split order, in‑app purchase) and walks through the troubleshooting steps.
      • Use the tenant ID and any transaction details from the email to help identify which subscription and tenant the charge belongs to when speaking with support.
    2. Contact Microsoft billing/support directly
      • For Microsoft 365 Business subscriptions, support is available to the tenant admin through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Since access to that account is the problem, use the general support entry point instead of the admin center.
      • Use the Contact – Microsoft Support experience described in the Q&A guidance:
        • Go to the Microsoft Support contact page.
        • Choose Microsoft 365 & Office (or Microsoft 365) under Products & Services.
        • Under Category, choose Manage my subscription or Billing and Payment updates.
        • Proceed to Confirm, then select Chat with a support agent in your web browser or request a callback if offered.
      • Clearly provide:
        • The tenant number from the renewal email.
        • The last 4 digits of the card, charge dates, and amounts.
        • The email address that received the renewal notice.
      • The billing agent can locate the subscription by tenant ID and payment details, then help either:
        • Recover access to the tenant/account (if it is legitimately owned), or
        • Cancel the subscription and advise on refund eligibility.
    3. If the account truly cannot be accessed
      • If Microsoft Support cannot associate any accessible account with the subscription, follow the guidance from similar cases:
        • Work with Microsoft Support to confirm whether the charges are considered unauthorized.
        • If the subscription cannot be found or canceled from any account, contact the card issuer to dispute the charges as unauthorized and request a chargeback.
        • The bank may also block future Microsoft charges and reissue a new card to prevent further billing.
    4. Check for common causes of unexpected Microsoft 365 billing
      • The Microsoft 365 benefit documentation notes that changing billing frequency or using certain plans (like Business Standard) can cause billing to start after a benefit or trial ends. If a free trial was started and then converted, recurring billing would explain the monthly charges.
    5. If this is a business product
      • The Microsoft 365 Customer Service and Support – For business guidance states that business subscriptions are usually tied to a work or school account and managed by an admin. If there is any chance an organization or partner set this up, contact that organization’s IT/admin to see if they can sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and contact support on behalf of the tenant using the tenant ID from the email.

These steps give a direct path to a human billing/support agent with the right information (tenant ID, card details, dates) so the hidden tenant can be located, the subscription canceled, and any eligible refund or bank dispute pursued.
