Does my new Microsoft 365 C0-pilot purchase include Word desktop app?

According to your concern, a Microsoft 365 Copilot purchase by itself does not include the Word desktop app. Microsoft 365 Copilot is an add-on plan, and it requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription.

Therefore, I suggest you should first sign into My account with your Microsoft account and go to Subscription tab > check your active license and available apps. If you only see something like Microsoft 365 Copilot or Copilot Business but not a plan that includes desktop apps, you likely still need to buy/upgrade to a plan with desktop Office apps.

The business subscription that includes Office desktop apps:

• Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Premium
• Microsoft 365 Apps for business
• Microsoft Enterprise plans: Microsoft 365 E3/E5 or Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise

A Microsoft 365 Copilot purchase by itself does not determine whether the Word desktop app is included. Access to the Word desktop app depends on the underlying Microsoft 365 subscription.

From the context:

• Plans like Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Microsoft 365 Basic do not include desktop Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); they only provide web and mobile versions plus OneDrive storage.
• Desktop apps are included in plans such as Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and certain business plans that explicitly list desktop apps.

Copilot is an add-on or included AI capability; it does not convert a web-only plan into one with desktop apps. If the subscription is a “Basic/Business Basic” type, the Word desktop app is not included even if Copilot is available in the web apps.

To confirm, check the exact Microsoft 365 plan name in the account and verify whether it lists desktop apps as included.
