Teams chat not displaying images properly

I just realized this problem seems to be happening to everyone. If you are in a chat group and someone shares an image, most times when you click on it to see the larger version it will not load, but show a blank screen instead. You have to leave the chat group and re-enter it multiple times in order to get the image to display properly. This did not used to be a problem. Maybe two months ago, this always seemed to work correctly - you click on an image and it shows the enlarged image. But now it typically just shows a blank screen.

Same problem here, and it's been this way for awhile, across multiple computers. I work in a visual heavy field, so half my dad is spent trying to get Teams to show me images.

I have been facing this problem for many months now. Recently did a full re-install of the OS as well (due to unrelated reason) and a fresh installation of Teams is having the same issue. Teams Online - the web-version is not affected though. Its just the desktop app.

Is been more than two years since we are using teams actively. More than any other office tool.
But still cannot resolve the image preview and arrow keys issues.
Cleaning the deep cache does not resolve it permanently. Screenshot or any other image sharing is essentials of remote work. But teams cannot open previews properly. Without opening the preview, we cannot download the image as well. I spent sometimes minutes opening an image. It's very disappointing.
Sometimes cannot manage the cursor with arrow keys, so you need to use the mouse instead.

Why someone from Microsoft takes the responsibility to resolve this issue. I am very annoyed.

Based on what I've read, it looks like there are two workarounds to this issue:

Option 1: Pop out the Teams Chat into its own window. Images appear to open without any issues when Teams Chats are Popped Out into their own windows. I've tried this and it works for me 100% of the time.

Option 2: In the Teams Chat, Right Click the image, which will bring up the "Copy Image" dialog. Do NOT click copy image. Instead, Left Click the image somewhere else. Kind of a weird workaround but this will open the image full size. I've tried this and it works for me 100% of the time.

Option 2 is the least inconvenient so it's what I will be using until Microsoft fixes this fundamental feature.

    Things that DON'T work consistently:

    • Clearing cache
    • Restarting Teams
    • Restarting PC
    • Clicking into and out of the chat

    Thanks,
    Pete
