We shouldn't have to use advanced settings, why is Microsoft thinking it's still Google even though new mail comes into M365 and we have verified the vanity domain in the tenant?
We have moved our email from Google to M365 but Outlook thinks it is still Google
New email is coming into M365 and not Google so we know that it's pointing in the right place but when we try to add a mailbox to Outlook, it asks us to log into Google. There were 2 email addresses in Google and we have added more in M365. It doesn't matter whether it is one of the new or old ones, it always redirects to Google sign in page. If we choose Advanced Options and then Let me set my account up manually then we can log into M365 fine and can add the mailbox. Logging into M365 on the website is fine too, it's just when adding a mailbox to any email program.
This is obviously frustrating, how do we get rid of the Google connection?

If this is the used desktop where you want to setup, then you can clear the cache as i mentioned.

Accoding to my reasearch, I found the thread here discussed the similar issue as yours, you could take a reference: Outlook Apps Redirect to Google rather than Microsoft 365 for Sign In
In Google side, you could turn off the GMAIL services within the the google admin side and this now stops the redirects to google:
Turn Gmail on or off for users
Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.Or you could configure your account using domain.onmicrosoft.com address.
And another workaround shared there:
Installing Outlook in my android table, everytime I wrote my email it sent me to the google account settings.
What I did is going to my accounts in my tablet, and added a OneDrive account.. this will prompt you the MS login needed.
After that the Outlook app recognized that email as a MS account and the account was added without problems.
