Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To resolve a double charge and request a refund, follow these steps depending on what was purchased and where:
- Check the order and billing history
- For Microsoft subscriptions (Microsoft 365, Xbox, etc.), sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/services and review recent charges under Services & subscriptions.
- For Skype products, sign in to your Skype account profile page and compare your purchase history with your bank or card statement.
- If the duplicate charge is for a Microsoft subscription (e.g., Microsoft 365)
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the account used for the subscription.
- Find the subscription and select Manage.
- If needed, select Cancel or Turn off recurring billing to prevent future unwanted charges.
- To request a refund, follow the guidance in How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription. In some countries/regions, prorated refunds may apply.
- If the double charge is clearly an error or duplicate for the same order, contact Microsoft Store Support as described in Cancel an order or pre-order from Microsoft Store and choose billing support.
- If the duplicate charge is for Skype
- Sign in using this link.
- From purchase history, select the order that was charged twice.
- If eligible, a Refund button appears. Select Refund, then Confirm Refund to have the amount returned to the same payment method.
- Skype refunds can be given for:
- Charges made in error if contact is made within 90 days of purchase.
- Fraudulent use, if Skype determines the account was taken over.
- If the Refund button is not available but the charge meets the refund criteria, contact Skype customer support using the link in the article.
- If the charge was made through a mobile app store
- If the subscription or purchase was made via Google Play or Apple App Store, Microsoft/Skype generally cannot refund it directly.
- Request a refund from the store:
- For Apple: use the process at request a refund from Apple.
- For Google Play: see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
- If the charge appears unauthorized or fraudulent
- Follow the “unauthorized or accidental purchase” guidance in Cancel an order or pre-order from Microsoft Store and use the refund request flow.
- If there are signs someone else is using the account, also follow the steps in that article to secure and recover the account.
If online self-service does not resolve it (no refund button, unclear duplicate, or multiple cards involved), contact Microsoft Billing Support or Skype Support directly via the contact links in the referenced articles and provide dates, amounts, and the last four digits of the card(s) that were charged.
