Follow these steps on Windows 11 to fix Xbox app not opening:

    1. Make sure Windows is fully updated
      • Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Install all available updates and restart the PC.
    2. Repair and reset Microsoft Store
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Find Microsoft Store > Advanced options.
      • Select Repair. If it still does not work, select Reset.
    3. Clear and resync Microsoft Store using wsreset
      • Press Windows key + R.
      • Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.
      • A blank Command Prompt opens and closes automatically; Microsoft Store will then open.
      • Sign in with the same account intended for Xbox app.
    4. Repair and reset Xbox app
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Find Xbox > Advanced options.
      • Select Repair. If the app still will not open, select Reset.
    5. Check Microsoft Store Install Service
      • Press Windows key + S, type services.msc, and open it.
      • Find Microsoft Store Install Service and double‑click it.
      • If Status is Running, right‑click and select Restart.
      • If Startup type is Disabled, change it to Automatic, select Start, then OK.
    6. Check date, time, and region
      • Go to Settings > Time & language > Date & time.
      • Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically.
      • In Language & region, set Country or region to the correct country (try United States if downloads or sign‑in fail).
    7. Reinstall Xbox app and related components
      • Open Microsoft Store.
      • Go to Library and update all apps.
      • Reinstall the Xbox app from Microsoft Store.

If the Xbox app still does not open after all these steps, create a new local user account in Windows, sign in with that account, set up Microsoft Store and Xbox there, and test launching the app. This workaround resolved similar Xbox app launch issues on Windows 11 in the referenced cases.

    Welcome Saroj Mal,

I understand how frustrating it can be when the Xbox app is not opening and only shows a brief loading indicator before stopping.

Before we proceed, I would like to clarify a couple of points:

    • Does the issue happen only with the Xbox app, or do other Microsoft Store apps also fail to open?
    • Are you currently signed in with a Microsoft account or using a local account on Windows?

In addition to Q&A Assist's suggested steps, please try these extra checks to move forward:

    Option 1: Check Xbox-related services

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc
    • Make sure these services are set to Automatic and running:
      • Xbox Live Auth Manager
      • Xbox Live Game Save
      • Xbox Live Networking Service

Option 2: Reinstall Gaming Services (advanced fix)

    • Open Windows Terminal (Admin) from the Start menu
    • Run: get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    • Restart the PC
    • Reinstall Gaming Services from Microsoft Store

Option 3: Re-register Microsoft Store apps

    • Open Windows Terminal (Admin)
    • Run: Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

option 4: Run System File Checker

    • Open Command Prompt (Admin) from the Start menu
    • Run: sfc /scannow
    • Restart after the scan completes

Option 5:  Sign out and switch account temporarily

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info
    • Switch to a local account, restart, then sign back in with your Microsoft account

I hope this information helps resolve your issue. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me again in this thread.
