open links in a new window

Please default it, or at least add the option to have links embedded in replies open in a new tab/window. New forum users have enough trouble finding their way to forums without having to deal with this as another problem.

I wanted to vote your feedback but here is another issue!

I cannot vote a great feedback since it is closed

I am getting the following error:

Sorry, but Closed: Not at this time feedback cannot be voted.

Why not letting users to vote to close threads?!? Up-vote cannot have disadvantages and have many advantages including saying "I agree with what was written" or simply marking a "Well done" and give the user a good feeling.

❌ We cannot block cheaters by this feature, if this was the goal.

❌I am wasting my time on editing message since this poor interface does not even provide WYSIWYG editor and when I tried to simply add a star char * the line became a list type

Figures, somehow this doesn't surprise me

Thank you for the feedback. I think you are right so I just updated the flow and you can vote on questions marked as "Closed: Not at this time".

Hi @DSPatrick our internal guide is to open all the links within the same window. This facilitates people with vision impairment to be able to navigate back in the windows. Thank you for the feedback, but we are not going to make a change at this time.

This make no sense to me!

I read 20 threads sometimes almost at the same time, and many thread includes links. Each time I click a link in a message in this interface, then I redirect outside the system. Next I will need to use the back button to get to the old message again, while losing all the information which I had in the page including answers which I started to write!

Even without losing un-finished answer why should I re-search for the thread where I am already working on?!?

What vision does someone need in order to not losing the content he started to write? Have you ever heard about another forum which has this behavior?!?

While I am entirely sympathetic to the plight of people who are visually impaired, that is clearly a small percentage of the population. You can code a setting for a person to identify themselves as visually impaired and have that "feature" specific for them, and save the majority of people that inconvenience by leaving the default as "new window".

Same applies to the new and very frustrating inability to unstack icons in the system tray. Anyone who can work using stacked icons is clearly not busy enough. Those of us who multi-task all day and are required to jump to/from numerous tabs hundreds of times a day are absolutely going crazy with this inconsiderate "feature". These things should be optional, not mandatory.
