Hi

I'm facing this issue with Windows 11 only, because there is no priority option for the keyboard layout.

I have installed 3 languages on my laptop, English, Arabic, and German, but I couldn't set the default keyboard layout. The keyboard language is changing automatically, I remember that there was an option in windows 10 which let me select the default keyboard layout.

Can you please help me to set the default keyboard layout.

    Hi Mohammed,

I'm sorry to hear that the previous solutions did not work for you. Reinstalling the Windows OS may indeed be a possible solution to the issue, but it can be a time-consuming process and may result in data loss if not done correctly. Before you proceed with the reinstall, I would suggest a few more troubleshooting steps that may help:

Check if your keyboard drivers are up to date. Go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your keyboard.

Run a virus scan on your computer. Malware or viruses can sometimes cause issues with the keyboard layout.

Try creating a new user account and see if the issue persists. This will help to determine if the issue is specific to your user profile.

If none of these solutions work, then reinstalling the OS may be necessary. However, before doing so, make sure to backup your important files and data to avoid any potential loss.

I hope these additional troubleshooting steps are helpful.

    Best regards,

    John D.

    Hi there,
The files I find following instructions are only th efollowing :: par défaut , 1 and 2.
Would the default file be the equivalent to number 3 you describe ?

Nb : I have checked for driver updates for my keyboard model. None found. The model in question is hook to my laptop which has its own keyboard I don't use.

    Hi there

I have the same problem. New laptop. I can't manage to set the Italian keyboard as default.

I'd like to have Italian keyboard only and everything else, including the spell check in English (UK), and eventually Italian as second option.

At the moment, no matter what I do (I tried regedit too) I can't seem to set Italian keyboard as default. When I boot the laptop it doesn't even appear as an option.

With the old laptop I managed to setup Italian keyboard as default but then it defaulted to Italian everything else, including spell check.

This is definitely a bug. People should be able to select a keyboard without meaning to have spell check or others in that language.

Please let me know if you'll escalate this.

    Thanks

    Andrea

    Hi everyone,

The same as you I had troubles setting keyboard layout. For me the issue was that I was unable to set Polish keyboard while keeping English US display language.

After a couple of hours tweaking with regedit defaulting keyboards (which obviously didn't work) I found solution that helped me.

Go to the Settings -> Time & language -> Language & region -> Three dots to the right on your keyboard -> Language options -> Add a keyboard (at the bottom) -> Add your desired keyboard.

For me I was lacking a keyboard in my language pack. After adding the Polish keyboard there I am now able to have my desired keyboard layout and keep Display language as English US.

    Hope that would help someone,

    Kind regards,

    Tomasz
