Hi,

Sending mail from my own email server (a Cloud Server) to 365 hosted email accounts is suddenly refused this week. We followed all the steps 100 times (as described) but the e-mail is still refused with the message:

550 5.7.511 Access denied, banned sender[x.y.z.205]. To request removal from this list please forward this message to delist@messaging.microsoft.com. For more information please go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=526653. AS(XXXX) [XXXXXXXXXXXX068.eop-NAM04.prod.protection.outlook.com] (in reply to RCPT TO command))

And we also tried the following two alternative methods 100 times each according to other Microsoft online documentation.

  1. sender.office.com
  2. Use the Microsoft delist portal to remove from the blocked senders list.

The server is not listed on a blacklist (mxtoolbox check) and it is usual sending to Google hosted custom domains and other systems.

How can I delist my ip-address? And is it possible to see for what reason the ban is?

It's now day three with this problem and I want to know how to fix this. My clients are very unhappy.

Another Microsoft representative pointed me to post it to this community, I hopes it can be solved asap.

    Hi Tomas S (@Thomas Seilund ),

I created a ticket in Linode saying that, I know there is an ongoing issue with their IP ranges and Business Outlook server. I asked them, to provide me with an alternative solution besides the 3rd party SMTP solution. They offered me a new IP address that wasn't on the block list. Since then, I am using this new IP address that the support provided me. You can create a ticket and asked them about it. (It might cost you an extra $1 per month as a heads up.)

Does anyone know if this is fixed? Because I tested sending from my Linode mail server to my Outlook email and it worked! So my email is no longer blocked.

I was using a smtp service, but I have customers reporting emails going into spam, so am keen to switch back to as it was, hence this test. So hope it is fixed.

I had this reply from my support technician at Microsoft:

The issue has been resolved between Microsoft and Linode.
You can rest assured that your emails will be delivered as the block has been removed.

if only it was resolved. apparently some ip blocks have been cleared, but my ip block in its sydney data centre is still blocked

by the way, as far as i am aware this problem is specific to exchange servers (ms 365). if you are being blocked by outlook, hotmail etc, there is a different process you need to go through.

    this link might help
    https://support.microsoft.com/supportrequestform/8ad563e3-288e-2a61-8122-3ba03d6b8d75

if they tell you it is not eligible for mitigation the first time, make sure email back and tell them why they are wrong. they usually clear the blockage after that.

i have found the outlook team to be pretty helpful unlike the ms 365 support who will not engage with you no matter what.

you should also register with their snds program for monitoring purposes if you send even medium volumes of emails
