SharePoint workflow Migration: Not all fields are available

We are in the process of migrating our SharePoint 201 workflows to 2013 ones - too many other projects to learn Power Automate.

Our approach is to recreate the 2010 workflows as 2013 by rekeying. this has been going well, however we came across an anomaly today where by one particular field is not visible from the base list while working in 2013 workflow. I did a sanity check and the field is still available if I start a new 2010 workflow.

The characteristics of the field that i can't access is that is a string based lookup. The lookup is on the same list are the workflow is attached - for information, this list stores the records of our company vehicles and the field in question is filled in when an existing vehicle is replaced - so the new record will refer to an existing record.

The same list has many other fields that are lookups and they are available in the designer.

Any ideas? We are wasting way too much time on this.

Thanks in Advance

John

Hi John, thank you for posting in Q&A forum. Would you please confirm which version of SharePoint you are using?

This is the expected behavior in SharePoint 2013 workflow.
The feature of referring to a lookup field that targets the current list (as well as additional fields to the lookup column) has been removed from SharePoint 2013 workflow.
Currently, there is no alternative solution than using SharePoint 2010 workflow for this requirement.

Here is a post with similar issue for your reference: Lookup columns not visible in designer workflow.

Fortunately I found a work around as a 2010 workflow would not be a viable option.

    Thanks for the quick response.
