times on email wrong

Question

Hello All

i have a user that report to me that he never sent an email to another user on let say November 14 but he recall sending it on july 28 he did a search on a subject of the mail and we could see 2 dates

we have outlook 2021 and on prem exchange 2019.

it could be a index issues ?

I would suggest searching the message tracking log to first have a check of the mail flow process of the email sent on November 14.

Then combined with IIS log (search with the message timestamp in message tracking log, while note that in IIS the timestamp uses UTC), we can determine from which device the message was sent.

hello all

what is weird is if i search the mail on the user that sent the mail i see it in sent items with the date of 28 of july

when i go in the sent items of the user i dont see that email

i look the mail flow and i did see only the mail at the 14 November

nothing for July 28

i went into sent items in OWA i see a mail dated of July 28 but clicking on it in the preview i see the date of November 14

very weird

the problem we have is the same message in either preview and reading pan is different
