How do I convert my account to a student account with the free credit?

Hi, I think I accidentally signed up a normal account with my student email address. Then when I tried to sign up with the student link, it said I was not eligible for a free account. How do I convert my account to a student account? I've got some assignments to complete that need some of the free credit. Or am I out of luck and I have to pay?

Figured out a solution.

• Go to the Azure student sign up page (use a different browser if necessary to separate saved logins)
• Register a completely new account with a newly-specified login
• During the process of registration, it will ask you for your education email address for verification
• If all goes accordingly, you will successfully make your new account. You will have to login with the newly-specified address.
