Why does labeling only work on desktop versions of Word and Excel but not web based versions?

A member of organization uses the web-based version of Microsoft Word and Excel that member noticed that the Sensitivity labeling feature does not appear on the web-based version of Microsoft Word and Excel I was curious as to why that is?
